“Life is Ministry, Ministry is Life” has been engraved into our heads.  Our mentor TT has told us, if we ever are in prison, use it for ministry! (just like Paul).  A group of us almost got that chance!

One of our ministry sites was about 30 minutes away.  A group of 10 of us went every Thursday.  Our transportation was a truck.  Every morning after breakfast they put mats in the back of the truck.  Five or 6 of us climbed in the back and the rest up front.  The bed of the truck was metal, the sides and back were wooden “bars”, and we got “locked” in for each ride.  Rubber covered the whole outside of it.

On one particular ride home, one of our teammates was sticking his hands out the back.  I mean, we felt like caged in animals.  We were just having some fun, laughing, and making the best of our ride.  Military happened to be right behind us.  Unbeknownst to us, the driver was getting very anxious up front!  He was praying that they didn’t see us in the back and pull us over.  Apparently, it was pretty close.  We could have been detained!

Honestly, if we would have been detained, I would have been okay.  I know who my savior is.  I know I’m safe.  I know whom I take refuge.  I know who my strength is in.  The question is….do you?

Jesus came for ALL of us.  He doesn’t care about what you’ve done in the past.  He wants your heart now.  He loves you and cares for you.  Jesus died on the cross to take all of your mistakes away.  He suffered through mockery, nails in his flesh, thorns pushed down on his head, dehydration—all of it he bore—so that YOU can live eternally with him.  I promise you, a DAY with him is better than a thousand elsewhere.

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4: 6-7

  3. Love you Kelly – and so proud of you and what you are allowing the Lord to do in and through you. And I agree with the comment from Sue above – I needed to read the passage from Philippians today. My heart is encouraged!
