Day 6 (Anha to Carreço) 14 km

We left late again, however, it gave us a chance to talk with “L and E” before we left.  They said they saw us each using one walking stick earlier and offered us a second pair since they were almost done. Ashley was just saying she needed to buy a pair. God is good.

It started off not raining, then drizzling, and a light rain off and on.

We needed a place to eat lunch under cover, I literally just asked God to give us a place and then we found shelter.

Ended up at the same hostel as the guys.

Ashley prayed for a fireplace…. and guess what… there is a fireplace!

What God Had Me Work Through Today:

Damp clothes: My clothes were still not dry even though they had been hanging for a day and a half.  I packed them up wet hoping our next place had a dryer. Instead— a fireplace! 🙂

Day 7 (Carreço to Caminha ) 20km

Pack sent forward.

Raining slightly hard since we woke up… but I have several pairs of dry socks to change in and out of.

We got to travel through forests and along the coast.

As we walked through the forest, there were huge puddles in our path. There were large banks along the side so it was impossible to go around. You could try to step alongside the edge… sometimes you had to go a little into the puddle. That’s kind of like life. Sometimes God calls us to do something and all we see are barriers. Sometimes… you have to get a little dirty or step into the unknown or get a little messy… but God’s waiting on the other side with something so beautiful.

I was reminded of how wide and deep the Father’s love is for us as we walked along the ocean and I couldn’t see the end of it. As the waves crashed upon the rocks… I thought of how mighty God is too.

It was raining off and on all day… but by the time for lunch it had stopped and we found a plastic bench that was dry.

Sunshine broke through off and on!

Ash and I ended the day with a meal out.  It was huge meal and enough for two.  We talked about the future, our fears, our dreams….. God is good.

What God Had Me Work Through Today:

Blistered pinky toe.  Lots of pain, but he still provided fun and laughter throughout the day.

One response to “Through Rain, Forests, and Coasts”

  1. You guys look like you have so much fun together. You also seem to take everything in stride: rain, wet clothes, late starts. Thanks for the posts on your journey.
