I’ve realized I’m a mom too!

As I was wishing people Happy Mother’s Day and thanking people who have been “moms” to me through different seasons and circumstances, I was told Happy Mother’s Day.  I’ve thought about it before because I call our family dog my “baby girl” all the time.

But on Sunday I was told that I love on the women here in Rwanda like a mom.  And in a group chat with the team I’m working with “to all the ladies…Happy Mother’s Day.”  Then I remembered…. Teaching the kids in Peru, the ladies here in Rwanda, kids in the street/feeding program in Uganda, the kids who attended camp in Kenya, the kids at HOPEthiopia, the kids and teens in Romania….  And that’s just the past year!

One of my clients at work would always call me mom, (even though she is older than me) as I made sure her daily needs were met, or just cooking, gardening, and doing life with her during the day.  It was a joke, but in reality, it was truth.  She knew I would do everything to make her feel loved and well taken care of.

Sometimes we forget all the ways we’ve been a mom to others or how others have been moms to us.  Warm wishes to all the mom’s out there…and especially to MY mom!  Thanks for loving me so well, and letting me run with my dreams and the desires that God’s put on my heart for mission work.  I love you!
