Most of these flowers were taken at the Genocide Memorial location in Kigali, Rwanda.

They are a reminder of Ubumuntu (a Kinyarwandan word meaning humanitygoodness, generosity, and kindness).  When referring to a person, it is someone who has greatness of heart. In the context of the genocide, Ubumuntu refers to those who selflessly risked their lives to rescue or help those who were persecuted.

It reminds me of the faithfulness of God.  A reminder that he is all powerful, the beginning and the end, compassionate, unchanging, and sovereign.  He is the ultimate definition of ubumuntu.  He has the greatest heart of anyone:that while we were still sinners…he sent his son to take our place.  Christ died in our place to set us free (1 John 3:16).  It doesn’t matter what you’ve done…he has GIVEN his life for you.  Thank you God for your faithfulness, goodness, kindness, generosity….ubumuntu.

“Great is Thy faithfulness, ” O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

“Great is Thy faithfulness!” “Great is Thy faithfulness!”
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
“Great is Thy faithfulness, ” Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

 “Great is Thy faithfulness!” “Great is Thy faithfulness!”
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
“Great is Thy faithfulness, ” Lord, unto me!

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

“Great is Thy faithfulness!” “Great is Thy faithfulness!”
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
“Great is Thy faithfulness, ” Lord, unto me!

AMEN!!!
