Meet Irene!

If you’ve been following my blogs, you know that after going to West Pokot last year and traveling around with her as my translator, I became her sponsor for her final year of school.

Irene JUST received her school testing results last Monday, and she passed!! Bwana Yesu Asifiwe! (PRAISE THE LORD!)  She will be able to attend college.

But for now, Irene is now off to do a discipleship training (DTS) at the Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in Mombasa, Kenya. She wanted to do some program right away so she was not at home for long.  Even though she has now graduated from Form 4 (High school), she is still at risk for being sold into marriage (by her elder brother) if she is in West Pokot for too long.

I was able to help do her shopping for the program to make sure she had everything she needed for the next 6 months–shirts, skirts, bed covers, mosquito net, journal, pens, pencils, notebook, bible, hygiene items, etc.  She is in need of about $400.  If anyone is interested in helping fund her DTS, you can Venmo or Paypal me–just let me know that it’s for her! Thanks for your consideration.

I had the opportunity to travel around West Pokot again with her this year and this time was even more sweet than last year.  We traveled house to house visiting the sponsored girls and obtaining information for profiles for them.  Along with creating relationships with the girls and the families we met with, our relationship with each other grew astronomically.  When she is finished with her DTS, we are hoping to take the gospel, her new skills, our love of God, and a new adventure to the people of Pokot.

Below, I wanted to share a sweet time of singing we had together:)

  1. Wow, your singing is very good. We will try and share this at church today so everyone can see how your doing with your ministry. We are headed to DE tomorrow with George for a few days of relaxing if that’s possible with George he like to be outside

  2. So thankful you were and still are able to be a part of Irene’s journey! Blessings to you both as you help her transition into her next chapter in her walk with Jesus!
